We have addressed some of your most common questions about the project.
How do I share my views?Our survey closed on Monday 29th March 2021 and we are currently analysing feedback. Thank you to everyone who submitted comments – we will ensure all your feedback is considered before any planning applications are submitted. At that stage there will be further opportunity to view the final schemes and submit comments directly to the planning authority.

And beyond that?Subject to approval of planning applications the below provides an estimated programme of delivery:
  • 2021 – Commence construction of A&E at HRI
  • 2022 – Commence construction of car park at CRH
  • 2023
    • Complete and open new A&E at HRI
    • Complete and open car park at CRH
    • Commence construction of hospital building at CRH
  • 2025 - Complete and open hospital building at CRH

Where did the funding come from for all of this?The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) awarded us an allocation of £196.5m for investment to fund new A&Es and other hospital buildings at both HRI and CRH sites.


What will happen to existing A&E and other hospital services during construction?The Trust will continue to provide existing services at both CRH and HRI, with both sites remaining fully operational during the construction phase.


What will these proposals mean for services at Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary? This panel shows a full range of services and where they will be delivered.

How much extra car parking will there be at CRH?There are currently 809 car parking spaces on-site at CRH, used by patients, visitors and staff. The proposals will create an extra 400 extra car parking spaces to meet the operational requirements of the site.
